SMX is seeking a SOF Communications & Integration Specialist to support United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM), Special Operations Forces Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics (SOF AT&L), Program Executive Office-Tactical Information Systems (PEO-TIS) Program Managers.   As a Communcation and Integration Specialist you will execute customer site integration tests to validate function and interoperability of SOF-AT&L fielded tactical networking, wireless voice and data, and virtualization technologies.  The ideal candidate thrives in hands-on environments, enjoys learning new technology, and can handle moderate physical demands.

Required Clearance: DoD TS/SCI, which requires US citizenship for work on DoD contracts

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Understand and adhere to technical documentation for system configuration and deployment
  • Produce integration test reports and implementation guides for program managers and engineers
  • Configure and troubleshoot routing/switching equipment, firewalls, and wireless access points
  • Manage virtualization solutions, such as VMware hosts, clusters, and appliances (ESXi, vCenter, Workstation)
  • Handle Cryptographic Keying Material in compliance with regulations and procedures
  • Deploy radio antennas for various wireless voice and data systems

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Required Clearance: TS/SCI
  • DoD 8570 (or replacement) with IAT Level II, such as CompTIA Security+ Certification
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to communicate system capabilities and functionality to non-technical audiences
  • Expertise in configuring computer network equipment including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points
  • Proficiency with Microsoft operating systems (Windows 10/11)
  • Strong grasp of Radio Frequency (RF) principles, to include satellite network concepts and technologies (GEO, MEO, and LEO)
  • Hands-on experience with VMware ESXi, vCenter with VSAN, and VMware Workstation
  • Ability to lift 45 pounds overhead
  • Ability to ascend/descend fixed and portable ladders
  • Operate vehicles up to “3/4-ton” (non-commercial) equivalent
  • Valid driver's license
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • 5-8 years of operational experience supporting Special Operations Forces (SOF) Command, Control, Communications, and Computers (C4) systems
  • Experience with mission planning for SOF C4 network architectures and familiarity with USSOCOM's enterprise networks and operations

Desired Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience supporting and integrating with SOF C4 systems
  • Military Experience:
    • Army: MOS 25 Series (A, C, S, N, B, U, Q), 18E
    • Navy: Rating ET/IT/NOS E300
    • Air Force: AFSC 1Z2X1, 1Z3X1, 1Z4X1, 1D7X
    • Marine Corps: SOF Communications Specialists (SOCS-B) 0861, or SOCS-C 0627, 0621, 0631, 0629, 0639, 0671, 0681, 0679, 0689, 2841, 2847, 2862
  • Experience with L3Harris products such as PRC-152A, PRC-117G, PRC-163, or PRC-167 devices
  • Experience with Mobile Ad-hoc Network devices such as TrellisWare, Silvus, or Persistent Systems
  • Familiarity with Microsoft server operating systems (Server 2016 or later)
  • Familiarity with Linux operating systems
  • Experience with Android OS based mobile devices
  • Knowledge of computer security, procedures, and protective measures
  • Familiarity with containerization solutions such as Kubernetes, Docker, or RGS Rancher
  • Familiarity with Government Testing and Evaluation processes and documentation
  • Software engineering and/or development experience
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
  • FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License (GROL)
  • FCC Amateur Radio License
  • Use of simple hand tools
  • Use of a multimeter to troubleshoot simple electrical circuits

The proposed salary for this position is:
$82,500$137,600 USD
