Michael Lehr is the Senior Vice President for Space & Intel, bringing more than 30 years of experience driving organizational and P&L growth by delivering mission-critical solutions across the national security, aerospace, and intelligence sectors.
Michael leads a talented and dedicated team of engineers and scientists delivering operational software that transforms raw remote-sensing data into actionable intelligence. By leveraging advanced visualization and analytical capabilities, his team enhances both the speed and quality of decision-making for SMX customers. The continued growth of the Space & Intel portfolio is grounded in building trusted partnerships, exceeding customer expectations, and investing in top-tier talent.
Prior to joining SMX, Michael most recently served as the Senior Director of Space Systems and Advanced Programs at General Atomics, where he helped advance satellite programs for customers including the U.S. Space Force, NASA, NOAA, AFRL, and the Intelligence Community. He previously spent over a decade at Sierra Nevada Corporation, leading P&L operations that supported critical warfighter capabilities and launched commercial and international aerospace efforts. Michael is also a proud U.S. Air Force veteran.
He is guided by a decisive, servant-leadership style and coaches for succession with two core philosophies: “People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care” and “You can recover from the wrong decision, but you can’t recover from no decision.”
Michael holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and an M.S. in Systems Management from Notre Dame de Namur University. He is married to his wife of 20+ years, and they have three grown children together, they enjoy traveling, the outdoors and spending time with family and friends.
